Mukhsin (Review)

Why it does not surprise me that Yasmin manages to get her audience to sing, laugh and cry in her movies with utter ease? Simply because she uses the simplest of things that we simply ignore the beauty of it everyday.

I can relate to the movie for most parts of it. Everything is simply super real. The scene when "Bujang" was sent away reminded me of a cat I had when I was 8. The keroncong reminded me of watching TV pendidikan. The old bicycle reminded me of the time when I carried around my own first girlfriend.

As always there are issues that
Yasmin brings up in her movies. But this time around it's not that serious. The tampons issues was pretty loud... but the inter-racial affair (to me the lady looked like an indian) of the neighbour's husband was really an eye opener.

The thing that got me to the end of my wits is the neighbour mother daughter thing. Very busy body but they were oblivious to the fact that their father/ husband was worse. More like tak reti jaga tepi kain sendiri.

There plenty of cameos from the cast of her past movies but the main characters played well. Not brilliant but well. It seems to me that Yasmin is running out of issues to put in her movies. Perhaps she would need a break and get some fresh concept. Mukhsin is a good light movie....it's a 4 out of 5 effort. It's a movie that makes you feel that you want to get married if you have not and would want to make you want to be in a relationship if you are not.
